Foundation Programme
What is Foundation Programme?
Foundation Programme is a special study programme designed to deepen our practical knowledge of Buddha’s teachings, through commentary, discussion, memorization, and prayers.
The entire course involves the systematic study of six of Geshe Kelsang’s books, which together present the complete Buddhist path to enlightenment.
Each class consists of:
Preliminary prayers ~ 20 mins
Guided Meditation ~ 20 mins
Teaching & Transmission ~ 40 mins
Paired Discussion ~ 20 mins
Q&A and Dedication ~ 15 mins
Approximately every 4th class an entire session is devoted to group discussion.

How to study on Foundation Programme
Students sign up for a section of study (approximately 6 months), which involves making a commitment to attending every session, memorizing certain sections, and sitting an exam at the end of the period of study. This way of studying, recommended by Geshe Kelsang, helps us to quickly gain practical experience of all the teachings we are receiving.
If you are interested in joining, you are welcome to come to two weeks of classes before signing up to see if you like it.
It is also possible to study on correspondence if you are not able to attend classes.
Costs
The cost is by Centre Card at £30 a month by standing order. A Centre Card covers the cost of all weekly classes at Jampel Centre and gives special rates for events and empowerments. It also helps Jampel Centre by providing a more stable income.
